Mark 10:17-31 and Mark 12:41-44

1. Read Mark’s gospel from start to finish and answer: what does Jesus say about money and his Kingdom?

2. Read Mark 6. Paying particular attention to Jesus feeding the 5000 listen to Jesus as he asks you the question, “What do you have?”

3. Read Mark 7. Jesus says it is not what goes in but what comes out that defiles a person. He was referring to washing customs and food but think for a moment about this teaching and your money. What is coming out of your wallet and where is it going?

4. Read Mark 10. The Rich man was a keeper of the commandments. He knew there was something missing. Jesus says “one thing you lack” and tells him to loose the grip money has on his life. The rich man goes away sad because he had great wealth. What is the next step for you in giving up money’s grip on your life and following Jesus?

5. Read Mark 12. Jesus is watching people give (scandalous by our standards). We are still talking about this Widow who gave all she had. Too often we are caught up in our limitations. We often feel as if we have nothing left, like our pay is never enough. What out of your poverty do you have to give?
